How to Vote and Other User/Voter Information.

How to Sign In to Vote.

1. Go to the home page.

2. Click on the text “Sign Up”, located in the upper right hand corner.

3. The sign up page will open.

4. Fill out all empty spaces on sign up page that have an asterisk beside them. This includes creating a username and password. (Write down your username and password).

5. You must be 18 years of age to vote. There are no residency requirements.

6. Optional: You can add your bio  and profile image. This will be shown only when you leave comments and someone clicks on your profile.

7. There is a button to check that asks if you would like to have your “favorites” shown on the front page or not.

Favorites? What is that?

As a user you can choose up to 21 favorite artists. If you make the list public it means these are artists you want other viewers to know you like or that you would like to recommend to others. These are not necessarily artists you are voting for. If you choose to have them shown they will appear in a random rotation on the front page and at the bottom of your profile page. If you choose to use the feature to look at work but don’t want it seen. You can still click on favorites. But they will not be visible to the public.

8. Accept terms of agreement and privacy statement by clicking on the respective boxes.

9. Click on the large blue “sign up” rectangle.

10. Congratulations! You are a registered user voter.

Confirming your Registration and Activating Your User/Voter Account

1. After you have signed up, the Baker site sends you an e-mail with a link. Click on the link and enter your username (or e-mail address) and your password.

2. This will sign you in to the site as a user/voter.  (to enter site again, after logging out, always simply go to URL, enter your e-mail address or username and password at the top of the page.)

3. When logged in to vote you name will appear in small letters at the top right of the page. Congratulations you have activated your account!

Browsing and Participating as a User/Voter

4. From here you can browse through artist nominations. When you see artists of interest you have four options:

•    You can leave them a comment.
•    You can put them on your favorite list. (Maximum of 21)
•    You can put them on your watch list. (Artists you are keeping track of -unlimited)
•    You can vote for them – (you can earn a maximum of 10 votes)

To Browse and Vote:

1. Click on the brown browse button at the top of the page:

2.  You can browse
•    Randomly.
•    By entering the artist’s name.
•    By keyword
•    By categories.

3. When you find an artist you wish to vote for go to the top of their nomination page and click on the vote button.

4. To see your votes-click on small blue vote button by the browse button.

5. This takes you to your personal voter page. This page will show you who you have voted for and how many votes you have left.

6. Your watch list is also on this page. Your watch list contains artists you have decided to keep track of to see if you may vote for them.

7. Note you can delete a vote (or a watch or a favorite) by clicking on the brown circle with a small white x in it located in the upper right hand corner of a selected image.

Baker Artist Awards Nomination Deadline – Jan 15 at 5 pm

The Baker Artist Awards nomination deadline is today Friday January 15, 2010 at 5 PM. Artists must upload and complete their nomination before 5 PM today. At 5 PM the nomination side of the site stops accepting new nominations and artists who have placed nominations can no longer make changes to thier nomination page – be it image, text, video or audio. Artists will no longer have access to their nomination page. Artists can continue to use their voter page, leave comments, cast votes, pick favorite artists, and to change their profile info.

Voting by the public and artists continues to February 15, 2010 at 5PM. New voters and site users can register throughout this time period. Voters must be 18 years of age, There is no residency requirement for voters. Let the world know you want them to visit and participate,

We thank all the artists who entered the Baker Artist Awards 2010.

Winners in both categories, the Mary Sawyers Baker Prize and Peoples Choice, will be announced the evening of March 3 on Maryland Public Television.

Baker Artist Awards Accepts Nominations in All Disciplines

Day 14 and we are already up to 127 nominations. Many nominations are returning artists and many are newcomers. We welcome you all. We have had numerous compliments on the tweaks in this years site design. If you have an opinion about the site changes please send us a comment and let us know.

This year, the Baker Artist Awards is looking to expand multi-disciplinary entries and encouraging nominations in disciplines underrepresented on last years’ site. So help us get the word out to all the dancers, architects, critics, composers, publishers, animators, actors, storytellers, weavers, playwrights, curators—to anyone working in the creative arts! Send the site information to prospective nominees. Tell them, “you too can, nominate yourself – you deserve it!”
