b- grant winner, Lily Susskind - dancer and choreographer
On Wednesday December 8, The Baker Artist Awards announced the next six of the 2011 awards winners. This year the Baker Fund is awarding eighteen $1,000 “b-grants” to regional artists who have placed their work on the 2011 Baker Artist Awards website. The Fund initiated the b-grants to recognize the quality and depth of the region’s arts scene, and to encourage artists to promote their work on the Baker Artist Awards website. Winners were selected by local discipline-specific experts. The first six award winners were announced in November. An additional six b-grant awards will be announced before January 15, 2011 (the last day to upload work on the site). This makes for an additional $18,000 the Baker Fund will give to artists each year.
The six b-grant winners for December are:
Shaun Flynn, sculptor and musician
Lily Susskind, dancer and choreographer

I’m confused, I thought that you had to have a self-nominated profile on the Baker page to be eligible for the “b grants.” A couple of the artists from the list aren’t on the site at all….
my nominee link seems dead as of 12/11.

In this first year of the b Grants, one of the goals of the new prize is to encourage metropolitan artists to participate in the Baker Artist Awards website and consequently, leeway was built into the new grant program to allow for naming winners who may not already be nominated on the site but who are required to nominate themselves before they can receive the cash prize. In other words, they will not get the cash benefit unless they have complied with the nomination requirement.
In the 2012 BAA competition year (notice having been given in the previous year about requiring the nomination process), all winners will be selected from the website and no prize will be awarded to an artist not yet nominated.
Sorry about the link Lily, fixed now : )
