About this Project

This portfolio of artwork displays my intrigue and exploration of how in particular, American woman view and deal with their bodies and body image. My work features body image disorders, like anorexia nervosa, bulimia and binge-eating and how the women with these disorders feel and how they express themselves through their bodies. I'd like to think I am representing something that every person deals with; Everyone has negative feelings associated with their body at some point in their lives. No one wants to talk about body image. In todays society, it is almost ingrained in us that we have to fit a certain mold or be like a certain prototype. Everyone strives for this "perfection". My work displays the emotional tolls many young women go through to perfect their body.
