Bio
My name is Melissa. I am twenty-nine years old and have lived in the Baltimore area my entire life. Through out my life starting at a very early age I have always had the urge to create weather through visual arts, music, or writing. My family with there love and support encouraged this everyday in me.By the age of ten I was certain that I wanted to go to an art school and pursue and develop a career in the arts. I went to and graduated from Carver Center for Ats & Technology in 1999. I started the first two years majoring in musical arts, playing the piano, but switched majors going into my junior year to a visual arts major. There is where my love and adventure began with, painting, drawing and, photography. Unfortunately being young and indecisive I attempted the sensible route to go to college for a non arts major only to find discontentment and a stifling creative block. Over the next ten years I did very little with art in any from, focusing on my health and family. Then Christmas two years ago I got a small point and shoot and a rebirth had begun. After that I re-realized my passion and love for self expression and art had not died and faded, so over the next two years I upgraded my camera to a Nikon D90, taught my self how to use Photo Shop and immersed myself in building a vast and extensive body of work that spans emotion, life, death, decay, beauty, ugliness, dreams, reality you name it i've tried to capture it.From traditional photography, to photographic manipulations and everything in between, I find that I still learn something new everyday and I hope that never stops. I am a hunter; I sit very still, waiting and watching for that right moment…the moment where a picture mutates into life and begins to breathe. I can only hope my passion is not only seen in my artwork, but more importantly, felt through my artwork.
