I'm most interested in the intersections of text and image. How can text function as image? How can image function as a text? What happens in the spaces between? The boundaries between the two will be made fluid.
I am fascinated by the question of how text can be liberated from linear, narrative arrangement. I want the eye to take in a body of text at once, as a whole, in the way it can take in painting or photograph. My microfictions and other writings attempt to shrink narrative to time zero, a timeless wash of written experience.
I'm also keen on the idea of subverting the easy apprehension of images, complicating them, providing them with the many meanings of a compressed and metaphoric language.
Understanding text and image in these ways is difficult--at least it is for me--but the fire they give off when pressed into such service is lovely, crooked, and graceful.
