Bio

Smith’s work explores labor and identity through encounters with symbolic landscapes, using handmade objects in gymnastic and absurd scenarios. His installations and performances typically hinders his body, check his ambitions, and try him physically but Smith is more concerned with designing system-based sites than the conventions of dance or solo performance.
Recent solo exhibitions include “Cataracts” at Gallery Four (Baltimore),”Tropical Obstructions” at Hamiltonian Artists (DC) “Liste 2011” at the Contemporary Museum-Baltimore, Smith was a Finalist for the 2012 Trawick awards and is currently a Hamiltonian Fellow.
